On September 29, 2020, China State Construction Corporation issued an announcement that as soon as the subway project to promote the development of Xi’an cultural tourism and improve the travel conditions of the citizens, there was good news that the construction of the first phase of the Xi’an Metro Line 15 project was contracted by China State Construction Engineering Corporation. Construction of project 4 bid section officially started.

The first phase of the Metro Line 15 project starts at Xiliu Station in the west and ends at Hanjiawan Station in the east. It is a backbone line that runs through the southern part of the city’s main urban area. The line connects the three areas of Gaoxin, Chang'an and Aerospace in series with a total length of about 19.5. Kilometers are all underground lines, with 13 stations set up to connect with the already-operated Line 2 and Line 4 and the upcoming Line 6 line. The route plan uses A-type 6 marshalling electric buses, equipped with fully automatic driving technology, and the maximum operating speed can reach 100 kilometers per hour. After the line is completed and put into operation, it will greatly shorten the spatial distance between Chang'an University Town and adjacent industrial parks and urban areas, which is of great significance to promote science, innovation, education, cultural tourism and rapid development in southern Xi'an.

Many transfer stations

There are 7 transfer stations on Line 15 of Xi’an Metro, which can transfer to Line 2, Line 4, Line 6, Line 7, Line 12, Line 16, and Line 20, greatly improving the transfer along the line Take advantage of efficiency and improve the urban rail transit network. Metro Line 15 runs across the southern part of Xi’an and connects important urban sectors such as “High-tech CID-University Town-Space Base”. It is integrated with the city’s subway network and can change the regional traffic situation, enhance the value of regional development, and promote regional joint development. The main artery of the “trillion-yuan science and innovation corridor”.

Difficulty in construction

The construction of the first phase of the Xi'an Metro Line 15 project is very difficult. It needs to overcome technical difficulties such as long longitudinal slopes, deep buried stations, special geological structures, and needs to run under high-risk areas such as existing subway tunnels and Heihe water supply pipes. Xi'an Metro Line 15 connects the High-tech Zone, Guodu Town, Chang'an University Town and the Aerospace Industry Base, spanning east to west, with a total length of about 19.46 kilometers, and a total of 13 stations. It is an important supplement to the backbone of Xi'an track.
