On October 16, 2020, the Lishui Shimen to Lixian Channel Construction Project Dispatching Meeting was held in Changde.

According to the third-level waterway standard, the project will renovate 51 kilometers of waterway from Shimen Zhaoheng Industrial Park to Jinjitan in Li County, rebuild the navigable buildings of Qingshan Junction and Yanzhou Junction, and build the Yanzhou Junction Power Station. Demolition, reconstruction and reinforcement, and construction of navigation aids, maritime and other corresponding supporting facilities, the total investment of the project construction is 3.675 billion yuan. It is expected that the project approval will be obtained in October, and the preliminary design approval will be completed in November. Currently, land acquisition and demolition work is underway.

The Lishui Shimen to Lixian waterway construction project is a key construction project in the 13th Five-Year Plan of the Ministry of Transport and Hunan Water Transport. It is an important one in the Hunan Province’s one vertical, five horizontal and ten-line waterway construction plan. Xiao Wenwei, deputy director of the Hunan Provincial Department of Transportation, requested that the current problems should be resolved quickly to ensure that the construction of the Lishui Shimen to Lixian channel can be started in November this year.
