A few days ago, the Civil Aviation Administration of China and the Shaanxi Provincial Government jointly approved the preliminary design and budget estimates for the terminal area and supporting projects of the third-phase expansion project of Xi’an Xianyang International Airport.

It is reported that the construction content of the third phase of the project mainly includes: changing the existing north runway to parallel taxiways, building three new runways, namely the first north, second and south second runways, the new east terminal building of 700,300 square meters, and a comprehensive area of 350,000 square meters. Transportation center and parking building, supporting construction of freight, 115 aircraft seats, aviation food, information center, fire rescue and related production facilities, etc. The total project estimate is 46.929 billion yuan and the construction period is 65 months.

The third-phase expansion project of Xi’an Xianyang Airport is the number one civil aviation development project and core work of Shaanxi Province as determined by the Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government. It is also a benchmark demonstration project for civil aviation in China supported by the Civil Aviation Administration of China. It is also the construction of inland areas in Shaanxi Province with high efficiency and cost. An important supporting project for the international trade channel with low and excellent service. After the completion of the project, Xi’an Xianyang Airport will become a super-large international aviation hub with 2 terminal areas, 4 terminal buildings, and 4 runways, which can guarantee 83 million passengers per year and 1 million tons of cargo and mail.
