On October 22, local time, the 1,370 affordable housing units of the Kenya Nairobi Park Road affordable housing project undertaken by CSCEC were accepted and delivered 75 days in advance. This was a good start for the construction of Kenya’s affordable housing system and effectively improved the housing environment in Kenya.
The project is located in the Nguala district of Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, close to the central business district of Nairobi. It is the first affordable housing project committed by the Kenyan government to improve people's livelihood and is also one of the four major administrative projects of the President of Kenya.
Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta visited the project twice and highly praised the construction speed of the project, the efficiency of the Chinese construction and the quality of the project, saying that the Kenya Nairobi Park Road affordable housing project will become a benchmark for the construction of affordable housing in the country , Has an exemplary role across the country.
In Kenya, there is a national housing gap of 250,000 units per year. Low-cost and high-quality affordable housing is urgently needed by the people, which is of great political and strategic significance. Kenya’s Nairobi Park Road Affordable Housing Project is the first affordable housing project under the framework of the government. It was contracted by China State Construction Kenya Co., Ltd. EPC. The building area is 123,000 square meters and covers an area of approximately 32,000 square meters. Related supporting facilities.
In the urban-rural fringe of Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, where the population is dense and housing is very crowded, living in settlement has become the "biggest dream" of the people here. The buyer, Smith, said excitedly: "I have bought a three-bedroom house and I can't wait to live here with my family. This house is great, spacious, comfortable and well lit. Everything is fine. , There is also sufficient water supply. I am very grateful to the people who have achieved all this."
On February 5, 2019, the project officially entered the construction phase. As a pioneer in exploring the EPC project of China Construction Overseas Affordable Housing, the project design team is faced with resource organization and coordination problems in three aspects: architecture, structure, and electromechanical. Adhering to the implementation concept of "Performance Guarantee, Design First", CSCEC dispatched professional designers from both architectural and structural aspects to be stationed on site to track, supervise and optimize the implementation of project drawings in an all-round way, focusing on the design optimization of architectural functions and structures , Provide design resource support and guarantee for the efficient performance of the project.
The rainy season in Kenya has made it difficult for bulk imported materials to enter the site. For this reason, the project management team and the subcontractor jointly discussed the overall plan for epidemic prevention and control, construction plans, personnel implementation, material landing, and machinery entering the site. In order to ensure the smooth transportation of materials, the project management personnel took "1 to 1" follow-up measures, reporting the completion of tasks in "hours" units, communicating and solving difficulties as soon as possible, ensuring the smooth progress of the project and non-stop production on site .
At the handover ceremony of Building A, Charles Hinga Mwaura, Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Housing of the Kenyan Government, stated that the Kenyan government actively encourages and supports the construction of affordable housing projects in accordance with the “Four Governance” plan, and promised the people to deliver 500,000 sets of insurance by 2022 room. The delivery of affordable housing gave the Kenyan government great confidence.
As the overseas epidemic continues to spread, the project resolutely implements the deployment requirements of the Group and China State Construction International on the normalization of overseas epidemic prevention and control, precise planning and implementation of various epidemic prevention measures to ensure the resumption of work and production.
In order to strengthen the publicity and mobilization of epidemic prevention and control, and do a good job of grading education, the project organizes employees to take online courses on epidemic prevention knowledge and conduct epidemic prevention and control drills. At the same time, the project reserves enough materials to do a good job in basic logistics support. During the epidemic prevention and control period, the project has set up an epidemic prevention and control supervisor who has dedicated personnel and posts to supervise the epidemic prevention and control work in an all-round way, implements the "one report per day" system, and implements quick, special, and strict handling of problems found. With the zero-tolerance work requirements of epidemic prevention and control supervision, a solid supervision firewall is built for the project to escort the health and safety of employees.
In addition, during the construction process, the project worked hard to create jobs for the local area, and signed an agreement with the representatives of the local SME association on the procurement of project doors, which contributed to stabilizing employment and driving local economic development.
