On November 16, 2020, Jiangmen Station, a comprehensive transportation hub in West Zhuhai, was opened, which means that Jiangmen Station, the fourth largest rail transportation hub in Guangdong, was officially put into use.
Jiangmen Station has a total investment of about 4 billion yuan and took three years to complete. The total construction area is 254,500 square meters, of which the station building is 54,500 square meters. It has the characteristics of station-city integration, three-dimensional transportation, novel design, and distinctive features. Its scale is 8 Taiwan 20 line brings together the existing Jiangzhan Railway, Guangzhou-Zhuhai Intercity and Guangzhou-Zhuhai Railway, as well as the Shenzhen-Zhuhai Railway under construction, the planned Zhuzhao-Zhuhai Railway, and the planned Shenzhen-South High-speed Railway, Guangfo Jiangzhu Intercity, etc. The designed maximum daily passenger volume is 71,500.
It is understood that during the initial opening of the station, 54.5 pairs of daily passenger trains were arranged. From Jiangmen Station, passengers can get to Guangzhou in 30 minutes and Shenzhen in 90 minutes, which will better meet the travel needs of the people in Jiangmen City. .
In terms of construction scale, Jiangmen Station is the fourth largest railway transportation hub in Guangdong after Guangzhou South Station, Shenzhen North Station and Foshan West Station. According to the plan, Jiangmen Station will be connected to Guangzhou-Zhuhai Intercity, Shenjiang Railway, Zhuzhao Railway, Shennan High-speed Railway, Guangfo Jiangzhu Intercity, etc. Among them, after the completion of the Shenjiang Railway, the distance from Jiangmen to Shenzhen will be shortened to about 30 minutes, making Jiangmen an important node for the westward movement of the Greater Bay Area.
The “Approval on the Intercity Railway Construction Plan in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area” issued by the National Development and Reform Commission in August 2020 mentioned that Jiangmen Station, Zhuhai Hezhou Station, and Zhongshan North Station are listed as the main hubs in the West Zhuhai Region of the Greater Bay Area. Zhuhai, Zhongshan, Pengjiang, and Hengqin stations are supplemented by them, realizing convenient connection and transfer of external transportation, intercity transportation and urban transportation.
Unlike Zhuhai Hezhou Station, which focuses on docking with Hong Kong and Macau, and Zhongshan North Station, which focuses on interoperability between Shenzhen and Dongguan, Jiangmen Station is mainly positioned to connect the Pearl River Delta with Western Guangdong and the Great Southwest, playing a role in linking east and west. At the initial stage of operation, Jiangmen Station arranged 109 trains to connect Guangzhou South, Shenzhen North, Foshan West, Shantou, Changsha South and other places.
Next, Jiangmen will further advance the transportation competition and actively strive for the Zhuhai-Jiangmen section of the Zhuhai-Zhuhai high-speed railway, the Shennan high-speed railway, and the Guangzhou-Foshan Jiangzhu intercity projects to be connected to Jiangmen Station as soon as possible.
