According to official data, in October, China’s total imports and exports of goods amounted to 2,837 billion yuan (RMB, the same below), a year-on-year increase of 4.6%. Among them, exports were 1,619.4 billion yuan, an increase of 7.6%; imports were 1,217.6 billion yuan, an increase of 0.9%.
Fu Linghui, spokesperson for the National Bureau of Statistics of China, said at a press conference of the State Council Information Office that this year under the impact of the epidemic, global trade in goods has declined, but China's situation is better than the world's. This fully shows that China's foreign trade potential is relatively large and its resilience is relatively sufficient.
He pointed out that the impact of the epidemic has adversely affected global demand, but there are also some demands, especially the increase in demand for epidemic prevention materials. Specifically, first, the demand for anti-epidemic materials such as masks and medical equipment has increased significantly; second, the demand for home office and home living has increased, which is some new demand caused by the impact of the epidemic; third, the epidemic has some important impacts on supply, which will affect some countries The production and supply links of the company have adversely affected.
Fu Linghui said that under the influence of the above three factors, Chinese companies actively adjusted and cooperated to support the global common epidemic prevention, and the export of masks, medical equipment and other materials increased significantly. In the first 10 months, China's textile exports including masks exceeded 900 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of more than 30%, and the growth of medical equipment also maintained rapid development.
At the same time, Chinese companies have obvious advantages in household appliances and information electronics. Driven by the "home economy", exports of household appliances, notebook computers, and mobile office equipment have increased significantly. In the case of global supply interruption, China's foreign orders have been transferred to the domestic market, supporting the growth of exports, which has also played a very strong leading role in the development of China's foreign trade.
Fu Linghui believes that from a later point of view, despite the secondary impact of the epidemic in some European and American countries, foreign trade growth may face uncertainty. But on the whole, China's epidemic prevention and control results are relatively obvious, and companies have resumed work and production, and production operations have resumed in good conditions. Even if the international situation is uncertain, China's import and export trade will still be better than the overall global situation. Editor/Xu Shengpeng
