The government of the Democratic Republic of Congo has handed over about 670 kilometers of RN4 Beni to Kisangani highway asphalt construction to China Communications Construction Corporation.

On Wednesday, November 4th, Willie Ngopus, Minister of Infrastructure and Public Works of Central Africa, signed a memorandum of understanding in Kinshasa. According to the agreement, technical and financial feasibility studies should be conducted within 12 months. Once the financial plan is finalized, the actual construction work will begin thereafter.

Beneficiaries of the project

This road is currently impassable, especially during the rainy season. The road paving project will connect and facilitate the towns of Kisangani and Bafwasende in Tshopo Province, Ituri Province, and Mambasa Town and North in Ituri Province. Transport between the town of Beni in Kivu.

The 670-kilometer asphalt road connects the towns of Kisangani and Pavwasend; Nyania and Mambasa in Ituri Province and Beni in North Kivu, which is part of the Northern Corridor.

This road is also part of the proposed connection with the neighboring Republic of Uganda.
