From December 1st to 4th, 2020, as the FPMC tanker berthed and unloaded to the reservoir area, the first batch of oil products in the Walvis Bay oil depot and pipeline project undertaken by China Petroleum Pipeline Bureau was successfully put into production, which will greatly promote Namibia The development of social economy creates more employment opportunities.

The project is the Namibia National Reserve Project, located in the oil and gas industrial area on the northeast side of Walvis Bay. It is a comprehensive energy facility that integrates oil terminals, shore stations, long-distance pipelines and storage tank areas.

Since the global outbreak of the new crown epidemic in 2020, Namibia has entered a national emergency state on March 17, and Walvis Bay, where the project is located, is the hardest hit area of the outbreak in Namibia. In the face of the severe local epidemic situation, the project department resolutely implemented closed management and grid control, and at the same time innovated working methods, fully promoted the remaining installation and commissioning of the project, and prepared the project for production.

The project owner officially issued a production notice on October 22, sounding the clarion call for the "100-meter sprint" for the Namibia project to be put into production. At this time, the project faces two major problems. One is the shortage of project personnel and the difficulty of relocation. Second, it is difficult to prevent and control the epidemic during the production period.

Faced with the problem of insufficient personnel for project production, with the strong support of the International Business Department, the International Business Department, the Operation Company, and the Sixth Company respectively transferred experts and business backbones from each unit from November 6 to November 27, and organized 4 times. The relocation of personnel, a total of 22 people rushed to the Namibia site from China, provided sufficient manpower guarantee for the project to be put into operation in just 21 days. The personnel who arrived at the site quickly entered the working status, clarified their job responsibilities, were familiar with the process flow, checked the equipment status, and practiced on-site drills. Everyone thought about each other and worked hard together to "grab" time for the project to start production.

The Walvis Bay Oil Depot and Pipeline Project in Namibia is the first project undertaken by the Pipeline Bureau in Namibia and the first overseas project that the Pipeline Bureau put into operation during the epidemic. The successful commissioning of the project will greatly promote the social and economic development of Namibia. Employment opportunities boost national confidence. At present, all employees of the Namibia project are working with full enthusiasm in the subsequent commissioning of the project, the most beautiful retrograde and persistent perseverance, jointly interpreting the meaning of fulfilling their duties and writing the fighting spirit of overseas pipeline personnel.
