Song Zhiyong, graduated from the First Flight Academy of the Chinese Air Force with a bachelor degree, is a senior pilot. He joined Air China in October 1987 and served as a pilot, deputy squadron captain, flight director, deputy captain, deputy captain of the Air China Flight Corps, and head of the training department. From November 2002 to June 2008, he served as the captain and deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the Air China Flight Corps. From September 2004 to October 2006, he served as assistant to the president of Air China. From October 2006 to December 2010, he served as Vice President and Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of Air China. From December 2010 to April 2014, he served as Deputy General Manager of AVIC Group. In December 2010, he served as a member of the Party Group of AVIC Group. In January 2014, he concurrently served as Director, President and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Air China. From February 2016 to December 2016, he served as Party Secretary of AVIC Group. In May 2016, he concurrently served as the vice chairman of Air China.
