On December 16, 2020, China Road and Bridge received the notice of winning the bid for the Davao-Samar Sea-crossing Bridge project issued by the Ministry of Public Works of the Philippines, becoming the first Chinese-funded enterprise to build a sea-crossing bridge in the Philippines.

The Davao-Samar Bridge is a sea-crossing bridge connecting Davao City and Samal Island, the third largest city in the Philippines. It spans the Bakiputan Strait. The main bridge structure is a double-tower, double-cable-plane, low-tower cable-stayed bridge. The total length is 3.86 kilometers, of which the total length of the cross-sea bridge is 1.62 kilometers.

This project is a major achievement for China Road and Bridge to implement the Belt and Road Initiative in the Philippines and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results between China and the Philippines. As a key urban transportation project in Davao City, the third largest city, the completion of the project will greatly alleviate the traffic congestion in the Philippines in the Port of Manila and boost the economic development of the Philippines. After the completion of the bridge, it will greatly promote the exchanges between the two sides of the Bakiputan Strait, improve the living standards of local people, and improve the overall economic and social development of Davao.
