The main line of Chengdu Tianfu International Airport Expressway was completed on December 23, 2020. Chengdu Tianfu International Airport Expressway has double starting points and double ending points, starting from the south section of the Third Ring Road in Jinjiang District and Wuhan Road in Tianfu New District, passing Jinjiang District, Tianfu New District, Longquanyi District, Eastern New District, Jianyang City and other densely populated areas. Areas with strong economic power and rich tourist resources, along with municipal roads such as the Third Ring Road, Checheng Avenue, Fifth Ring Road, and Shuangjian Road, as well as Chengdu Ring Road, Second Ring Road, Economic Zone Ring Expressway, Chengzilu Expressway, etc. The highway connection ends at the Chengdu Economic Zone Ring Expressway, which connects with Zitong Expressway and Chengyi Expressway respectively.

The total investment of the project is about 19.5 billion yuan, and the total length of the line is 88 kilometers (including 57km of the northern line, 3km of the connecting line into the city, 10km of the Tianfu branch line, and 18km of the southern line). It adopts two-way 8-lane and two-way six-lane standard construction. The design is 120km/h and 100km/h, the subgrade width of the bid section is 42m, 37m, 34.5m and 33.5m, which is one of the highway projects with the highest design standards in the province. The opening mileage of this time is 70km (the southern line is under construction and is expected to be completed in 2021), with 45 bridges, 2 tunnels and 10 interchanges. The main line project was announced in September 2016 and opened at the end of 2020; the airport expressway south line started in July 2019, and it is planned to be completed and opened to traffic in 2021.Editor/Luo Wentao
