On December 30, 2020, after five years of construction, the railway, which is of great significance to Yunnan Province, finally received good news. The railway from Dali to Lincang is officially opened for operation, and a major railway access is added to the southwest region of China. Lincang City will also end the history of no railways.

The Dali-Linzhou Railway runs all the way south from Dali City, crosses the Lancang River through Weishan County and Nanjian County in Dali Prefecture, and enters Lincang City via Yun County. It is a national railway class I single-track electrified railway with a total length of 201 kilometers and a designed speed of traffic 160 kilometers, newly built passenger transport stations such as Weishan, Yunxian and Lincang. 69 new bridges and 35 tunnels were built across the line, with a bridge-to-tunnel ratio as high as 87%.

At the initial stage of operation of the Dali-Lincang Railway, the railway department arranged 1 pair of Kunming to Lincang EMU trains every day. The running time was 3 hours and 37 minutes, which was about 6 hours shorter than road transportation; 3 pairs of Dali to Lincang EMU trains were operated, the fastest The running time is 1 hour and 37 minutes, which is about 3 hours shorter than road transportation, and the travel time of passengers is greatly reduced. The freight business of Dalin Railway will also be launched simultaneously, and the freight yard of Lincang Station will start freight business. At present, there are 7 arrival and departure lines at Lincang Station on the Dalin Railway, with an initial freight design capacity of nearly 1.8 million tons per year.

After the opening of the Dali-Linzhou Railway, passengers can take a train from Kunming, the flower capital of the spring city, to the ancient city of Weishan in Dali, to taste the native chicken rice noodles in Yun County, and to drink authentic Pu'er tea in Lincang, the "hometown of ancient tea" . This road is rich in tourism resources and colorful ethnic culture. The well-preserved ancient city of Weishan is only about 2 kilometers away from Weishan Station. The opening of the railway will further improve the Great Dianxi Tourism Circle, effectively promote the transformation and upgrading of local tourism, provide more employment and entrepreneurial opportunities for local people, and help western Yunnan Regional economic and social development.
