A major feature of Suzhou gardens is the piled rocks on the mountain. Stacked rocks stack up rockery of different shapes according to the change of stone shape, texture and color. Equipped with halls, buildings, study rooms, trees and flowers are planted, and peaks, mountains, rocks, caves, waterfalls, etc. are designed at the same time. It is an artificially condensed boutique, but it has the taste of real mountains.
From the general point of view of the mountain, the commonly used stones can be summarized into five categories: lake stone, yellowstone, bluestone, stalagmite and other stone products.
bluestone
Bluestone is a blue-gray fine sandstone with flaky characteristics. Blue and Huangshi are all selected from the mountains, and bluestone is greenish in color, and the biggest benefit is wear resistance and weathering resistance.
Yellowstone
Yellowstone is a fine sandstone with orange-yellow color. The mountain stone has obvious rhombohedral shape, straight joint surface, strong light and shadow effect, and is characterized by strong and solid. Huangshi is yellowish in color and warmer. Compared with Taihu stone, its morphological characteristics appear to be stiff, and it is depicted with a firmer straight line.
The rockery of Huangshi is thick and simple, while the rockery of lake rock is more exquisite and transparent.
Lake Rock
Lake stone is produced by the foothills of Jiangsu and Zhejiang. It is leaky, thin, wrinkled, transparent, clear, stubborn, clumsy, and ugly. The lake stone has hidden veins, ingenious appearance, vertical and horizontal texture, interesting cavities, and strong symbolism. Many wrinkles and vortices appear on the surface, just like natural abstract patterns.
The most typical example of lake rock rockery is Huanxiu Mountain Villa. The lake rock rockery in the park is the largest in China. This mountain was made by the famous mountain master Ge Yuliang in the Qing Dynasty; it covers an area of only 0.033 hectares and is less than 7 meters high. , But it contains the mountain-shaped sights such as the rush of the mountains, the ups and downs, and the anger, showing the flatness of the ridge, the steepness of the peak, the roundness of the mountains, the abrupt cliffs, the deep valleys of the creeks, and other mountain-shaped attractions. The epitome of Dachuan.
stalagmite
The stalagmite is also a stone form that can be seen in Suzhou gardens. Its appearance is like a bamboo shoot but the heart is solid. Chinese traditional gardens are commonly used in corners and under painted walls, and often match bamboo.
For example, wood fossils, turquoise stones, stone corals, stone eggs, etc., are used in garden landscaping, and each has its own advantages. Editor/He Yuting
