Recently, Kazakhstan announced that Kazakhstan has officially joined the World Logistics Passport Program. This was announced after the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan Suldanov and the chairman and CEO of Dubai Ports World Group Sulayem.
World Logistics Passport Program
The World Logistics Passport Program aims to expand the scale of trade between emerging markets and eliminate barriers to trade growth such as poor logistics. The plan can not only optimize existing trade routes, but also develop new trade routes for logistics and trading companies, which will help diversify product trade around the world and increase the market share of major commodities in developing countries.
Since its launch in July 2019, the World Logistics Passport Program has helped member countries increase their trade scale by 10%. In addition to Kazakhstan, Colombia, Senegal, Brazil, Uruguay, Thailand and South Africa are all participating in the World Logistics Passport Program as regional hubs and partners, and eight more countries are preparing to join the program.
Kazakhstan's logistics and transportation industry will usher in new opportunities
Sultanov, Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan, said that joining the World Logistics Passport Program will make Kazakhstan's trade with Europe, China, Latin America and Africa more diversified. Joining the World Logistics Passport Program will enrich the bilateral relations and trade exchanges between Kazakhstan and the UAE and other member states. By making Kazakhstan a link between the Belt and Road Initiative and the World Logistics Passport Program, Kazakhstan's logistics and transportation industry will usher in new opportunities, and the transit transportation potential will be further developed.
Su pointed out that Almaty will become an important logistics hub for Kazakhstan, and its strategic location has enabled Kazakhstan to continuously increase its share of trade between China and Europe. In addition, Almaty can provide opportunities to enter regional markets such as the Eurasian Economic Union, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the OECD, and become a communication gateway between the regional market and WLP member states. Almaty Airport will become an aviation hub providing world-class services.
