On December 31, 2020, Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, the construction of 16 projects of the Hangzhou Project Group of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal National Cultural Park in 2020 was started. The sixteen projects started this time include 5 key cultural benchmarking projects, namely the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal Museum, Xiaohe Park, the Comprehensive Protection Project of the Grand Canal Hangzhou Steel Industrial Site, the North Central Landscape Avenue of Dacheng, and the Grand Canal Waterfront Public Space . The Grand Canal World Cultural Heritage Park composed of these 5 projects has been successfully listed as a national landmark project.

Hangzhou is located at the southernmost end of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and the beginning of the East Zhejiang Canal. The Hangzhou section of the Grand Canal runs through the city, with a total length of more than 110 kilometers, including 11 heritage sites. The Hangzhou section of the Grand Canal is a living large-scale linear heritage that still plays the functions of transportation, water conservancy and flood flooding, and tourist attractions, and is the "lifeblood of the city" of Hangzhou.

It is reported that in 2021, Hangzhou Canal Group will arrange 132 projects, with a planned total investment of 7.76 billion yuan (including soil treatment projects and investment), which will help promote the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan and contribute to Hangzhou’s display of an important window and a goose style.

Lu Xiaoliang, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Hangzhou Canal Group, said that Hangzhou Canal Group will basically build the Grand Canal National Cultural Park by the end of 2023, and strive to make every project a fine product of the century and handed down to build the Grand Canal.
