The construction process of the China Grand Canal Museum in Yangzhou has attracted much public attention. The museum’s important landmark landscape Universiade Tower has been basically completed, and the scaffolding inside and outside the tower is being removed from top to bottom. The Universiade Tower is built of steel structure, with glass curtain walls all around and on the top. The Universiade Tower after "removal of makeup" is transparent and crystal clear, becoming a new landscape on the ancient canal river.

Yangzhou’s first 100-meter steel tower: more than 2,200 tons of steel components were used

On the morning of January 19, at the construction site, all the 4th floors and above of the Universiade Tower had been demolished, and the tower was shining brightly in the sun. Entering the tower, the entire tower body is made of steel, the eaves and fences are made of transparent glass, and the tower body is surrounded by glass curtain walls. This is also the first 100-meter steel tower in Yangzhou’s history. It has more than 2,200 tons of steel components. The first transparent pagoda in Yangzhou history with steel frame and glass as the main materials.

Climb to the top of the tower to get a panoramic view of the surrounding landscape. On the south side is Sanwan Park, on the west side are the ancient canal and coastal landscape... Located on the top of the Grand Canal Museum on the southeast side of the Universiade Tower, there are 5 eye-catching pavilions, four of which are square pavilions distributed on four corners. In the middle of the top, there is a circular landscape pavilion, which looks like five pavilions arched from the sky.

The Universiade Tower has 1 underground level, 9 above-ground bright layers, and two dark layers at the same time. The Hoisting Tower of the Universiade Pagoda was completed in October last year. The tower is more than 10 meters high, raising the height of the Universiade Tower to 112.3 meters. According to Xue Qingbing, project manager of Jiangsu Hanjian Group, the construction unit, the scaffolding plan of the Universiade Tower will be completely dismantled early next month, the tower body will be fully displayed, and the interior decoration of the tower has also started. It is planned to be completed on April 18th in 2021.

According to the person in charge of the steel structure company of Hanjian Group, this landscape tower has another characteristic, that is, it shrinks upwards layer by layer, the lower is large, the upper is small, the first floor is 21 square meters, each side is 4 meters outside, and only 14.6 is left after shrinking to the top. Square meters, 2.4 meters on each side, supported by a total of 16 steel columns. The most difficult thing is that the positioning of the 12 inclined steel columns around the periphery is difficult to control. They are all positioned in the air, which overcomes many difficulties.

Designed in the style of a Tang tower: accessible through the gallery on the top of the museum

Yangzhou China Grand Canal Museum is located in the Canal Sanwan Scenic Area, covering an area of 200 acres, with a total construction area of 79373.59 square meters. The main body consists of the Universiade Tower and the museum. The overall tone of the museum is the architectural style of the Tang Dynasty. The overall shape of the museum adopts the shape of a giant ship, and at the same time incorporates sail elements. It is on the canal side, like a big ship about to set sail on the shore.

The Universiade Pagoda is designed in the style of Tang Pagoda to reproduce the ancient charm of the Tang Dynasty. The Universiade Pagoda is about 1.2 kilometers from Wenfeng Pagoda of Wenfeng Temple, and about 4 kilometers from Gaomin Temple's Tianzhong Pagoda. Standing on the Universiade Pagoda, you can see Tianzhong Pagoda and Wenfeng Pagoda from the north and south.

After completion, you can enter the Universiade Tower through the Changhong horizontal wave corridor built on the top of the Grand Canal Museum, and the landscape of the three towers and the three bays is even more exciting! Editor/He Yuting
