On February 4, 2021, Jiandao.com learned from the Land Transport Authority of Singapore that China Communications Construction Co., Ltd. (Singapore Branch) signed the second contract for a civil engineering project in Singapore worth 180 million US dollars.

The project is the civil part of the Johor-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) project. The contracted works include the construction of an RTS connecting viaduct and tunnel in Singapore. It is reported that the viaduct will be located at a height of 25 meters above the Strait of Johor in Singapore, and will be connected to the RTS Link Woodlands North Station through an underground tunnel. Global viaduct and tunnel works are expected to start in the second quarter of 2021.

According to the Singapore Land Transport Authority, it is expected that the trunk line of Singapore's rapid transit system will start passenger service at the end of 2026. Once activated, this line will improve the connectivity between Singapore and Johor and reduce congestion along the causeway. China Communications Construction Corporation focuses on large-scale railway, highway and bridge projects, and has previously completed many other railway projects in China and Kenya. The company is currently working at Brunei Station on the Jurong Line. Editor/Tian Zengpeng
