The first span in the world: closure of mingzhuwan Bridge

On the morning of February 3, 2021, the mingzhuwan bridge in Nansha New District of Guangdong free trade zone of China was closed, marking that the maximum span of the world's three main truss steel truss arch bridge was refreshed to 436m. Surpass Nanjing Dashengguan Yangtze River Bridge and win the title of "the first span in the world".

As the core landmark of Guangzhou facing Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, the bridge will form a high-speed traffic corridor between the main urban area of Guangzhou, Hong Kong International Airport, Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport and Guangzhou South Railway Station in the future, realizing a 30 minute direct access to the main urban center of Dawan district.

Nansha District of Guangzhou is located at the mouth of the Pearl River and the geographical geometric center of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. Nansha District is the sub center of Guangzhou city planning and an important gateway of Guangzhou to Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. In its 803 square kilometers area, one third of Shawan waterway, hongqili waterway, Shiziyang waterway, Humen waterway and Lingdingyang are covered by water.

In March 2018, Guangzhou Nansha mingzhuwan bridge, which was awarded the EPC design and construction contract by China Railway Construction and Bridge Bureau, officially started construction. The mingzhuwan bridge, located in the core area of "Five Rivers" intersection of Nansha mingzhuwan comprehensive service area, will cross the Longxue South waterway 1300 meters from the Pearl River estuary and become an important traffic channel connecting Nansha street and Wanqingsha in Nansha District.

With a total length of 9.1km and a main bridge of 2.64km, mingzhuwan bridge is a half through six span continuous steel truss arch bridge. It adopts a three piece truss structure with a total weight of 54000t. The appearance of the steel truss arch bridge well echoes the natural geographical environment characteristics of wushuihuiwan and the connection of mountains and rivers. The large bridge is a super municipal bridge project, which integrates "appearance value" and "connotation".

After the closure of the main bridge of mingzhuwan bridge, it will enter the deck system construction stage, such as deck installation. It is planned to open to traffic on July 1, 2021. At that time, it will connect the two sides of the city, watch the estuary of the Pearl River, and help Nansha of Guangzhou draw a harmonious and beautiful picture of "bridge, mountain, forest, city and sea".  (please refer to www.seetao.com for reprint.  )Video program director of seetao.com / Sun Mengmeng
