On February 18, 2021, Power Construction International entrusted Shandong Power Construction No. 1 Company to carry out the general contracting of the project. The Central China Institute was responsible for the survey and design of the Myanmar Kyaukphyu Gas-steam Combined Cycle Power Plant. Concrete marked the full start of the main body construction of the power station.
The Myanmar Kyaukphyu gas-steam combined cycle power station is located in Kyaukphyu Town, Rakhine State, western Myanmar. It has a power supply capacity of approximately 135 MW and adopts gas-steam combined cycle technology. After completion, the annual on-grid power supply is approximately 1 billion kWh. The operation period is 25 years after commissioning.
In order to ensure the smooth progress of the pouring, the technical staff of the Central China Institute and the project department staff carefully planned, carefully organized, overcome difficulties, and coordinated operations, and continued to steadily advance, actively overcome various unfavorable factors, and worked overtime during the Chinese New Year. The construction period ensures that the construction progress, safety, quality, environmental protection are controllable and under control, laying a solid foundation for the first-party concrete pouring of the project to achieve the milestone node goal.
The project is an important fulcrum of the China-Myanmar Herringbone Economic Corridor under the Belt and Road Initiative. It is a major infrastructure project in Kyaukphyu City, Myanmar that affects people’s livelihood and affects industrial development. After the power station is completed and put into operation, it can effectively promote local economic development and improve people’s livelihood.
