It was the first large-scale power energy project in the "China-Pakistan Economic Corridor" and was known as Pakistan "Project 1". Since the first unit was put into operation in November 2017, the power station has accumulated over 27 billion kilowatt-hours of power generation, accounting for about 7% of the total on-grid electricity in Pakistan. It has become an important power and energy guarantee base in Pakistan and has delivered to more than 4 million households. The light.

Construction of the Qasim Power Station was started in May 2015.
