The Airport Authority of India (AAI) has launched a tender for the first phase of the construction of an international airport in Dholera, Gujarat, requiring an investment of 9.87 billion rupees.

The new Dholera Airport is part of the Delhi-Mumbai Dedicated Cargo Corridor (DFC), so the airport there needs to cater for international and domestic air traffic and economic activities.

The airport is located in the northern part of the Dholera Special Investment Zone (DSIR) and is expected to not only meet the needs of DSIR and its hinterland, but also the passenger flow of Ahmedabad International Airport.

Dholera New Airport

"The Airports Authority of India has issued a tender of 9.87 billion rupees for the first phase of Dholera International Airport. The project will be consistent with the Category 9 fire station and will include a 3,200-meter-long runway, which will be suitable for 4E Type aircraft."

The lack of an international airport in Solaştra and its surrounding areas will make Dholera International Airport strategic and advantageous in many respects. The upcoming airport will bring advantages to the aerospace, defense and manufacturing industries, and they hope to invest in the undeveloped industrial smart city Dholera.

The Gujarat government has allocated 1,427 hectares of land for the project and 75 hectares of government land has been allocated for commercial development. The press release also stated that all other related ancillary services will be developed by the government, such as electricity, water, flood control and roads.Editor/Huang Lijun
