Colombia is currently carrying out some important road projects. The National Infrastructure Agency of Colombia stated that seven of the country’s fourth-generation road projects should be completed in 2021. The other 10 will be completed in 2022, and one will be completed in 2020.
The total construction value of the 4G project plan is as high as 13.16 billion US dollars. So far, about half of the necessary financing has been in place. The first project in the next stage of 5G projects is the Accessos Cali – Palmira project, which has already started tendering. Other 5G road projects are also being planned.
At the same time, a financing plan worth US$200 million will be used to improve the highway connecting Bogotá and Girardot. Financing is provided by a series of parties; Crédit Agricole, Banco Santander and Bank Mitsubishi UFJ reached an agreement under the coordination of the National Infrastructure Agency (ANI). The concession rights for this route are managed by the Constructora Conconcreto and Vinci Highways concessions. This new financing scheme will help pay for the purchase of construction equipment, materials and personnel for highway widening work.
Improvements to the road crossing the Siskar route are in progress. The concession rights of the route are managed by "concession horizontal". Ongoing improvements include bridge upgrades and new lighting in the tunnel section, and 133 kilometers of the 137-kilometer route now have new asphalt pavements. The work on this route is divided into four parts and should be completed by the end of 2021. Editor/Sang Xiaomei
