High-speed rail has high requirements for rail erection. In the erection, the technical problem of breaking the neck of the card has always been the key to hinder the speed-up of the high-speed rail. Since China officially defeated rival Japan in 2015 and won the design and construction rights for the project, Yawan High Speed Rail has always attracted the attention of Chinese and foreign media. Recently, in this project, the transfer of the technology of box girder by Chinese companies not only made the project overcome difficulties, but also enabled Indonesia to make new technological advances in the high-speed rail profession.

On September 30, 2019, at the successful erection ceremony of the first box girder, Indonesian Minister of State-owned Enterprise Rini Sumarno said that the box girder was the first in the history of Indonesian construction, and the Yawan project provided Indonesia with I learned about learning opportunities and thanked Chinese companies for transferring technology to Indonesia. I hope that these technologies will be used in other projects in the future.

Xiao Qian, Chinese ambassador to Indonesia, said at the ceremony that the Yawan high-speed railway has become the flagship project of the development strategy of the two countries and the joint construction of the “Belt and Road”. The successful erection of the first box girder marks another key step in the project construction and lays a solid foundation for the follow-up work.

The Yawan High-speed Railway has a total length of 142 kilometers and a maximum design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. It was fully started in June 2018 with a total construction period of 36 months. This year is a key year for comprehensive construction speed improvement. After the completion of the traffic, the time from Jakarta to Bandung will be shortened from now more than three hours to 40 minutes. Editor / Wang Zhizhe
