On April 16, 2021, Energy China Gezhouba Group and China General Nuclear Power Uranium Co., Ltd. formally signed the Hushan Uranium Mine Mining Service Spot Exchange Project Contract in Namibia. The signing of the project is another important result of the company's implementation of the “Going Global” of the central enterprises, accelerating the transformation and upgrading, and promoting the “Going Global” of non-electric business, laying a solid foundation for the further expansion of the mining service market in Southern Africa and even the entire African region.

The project is located in the Namib Desert in central and western Namibia, about 65km away from the coastal city of Swakopmund. The main content of the contract is the general contracting service of mining construction in Hushan Uranium Mine No. 1, including the supply of civil explosives, drilling and blasting construction, and excavation. Transportation, construction, etc., with an annual stripping volume of 6 million cubic meters, and a service period of 5+3 years. Namibia is an important mineral-producing country in Africa. The Hushan uranium mine is by far the world’s largest uranium mine with an annual mining and stripping volume of 140 million tons and a uranium resource of about 293,000 tons, ranking third in the world. At the same time, as a key project of the “Belt and Road”, the Hushan Uranium Mine is currently China's largest single industrial investment project in Africa. After reaching production capacity, it will significantly enhance the international competitiveness of Namibia's mining industry and has become a landmark project for China-Africa cooperation.
