The Indian government has approved the development of Bangalore Metro Project 2A and 2B. The estimated cost of these two stages is US$1.96 billion (147.88 billion rupees). With a new 18.236 km elevated line, Phase A of Phase II will run between KR Puram and the Central Silk Board along the Outer Ring Road (ORR), with a total of 13 stations. It will be built together with the 73.92 km long second phase of the project.
The 37-kilometer Phase 2B line will connect 17 stations through Hebbal Junction, connecting KR Puram to Kempegowda International Airport (KIAL).The total length of Bangalore Metro Projects 2A and 2B is 58.19 kilometers.
In December 2020, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) approved US$500 million in funding for the development of two project phases. The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) also signed an agreement last month to provide a loan of US$318 million.
The work of the project will provide more public transportation infrastructure in Bangalore and will simplify the city's urban transportation system. The government’s Information Bureau stated: “The project involves effective integration with other urban transportation systems, which can only be achieved through the use of innovative design, technology and institutional management methods.”Editor/Huang Lijun
