The Land Transport Authority of Singapore (LTA) has awarded a civil contract for the design and construction of the Pasir Ris interchange station and tunnel to a joint venture (JV) formed by the Singapore branch of Dongah Geological Engineering Company and Daewoo Engineering and Construction Company of South Korea.
The total contract value is about 980 million yuan, and the project will proceed to the first phase of the Hong Kong Island Line. The scope of work includes the outline and construction of the Basillis transfer station and tunnel, as well as the inclusion and renovation of the Basillis station across the east-west line.
With the passenger service scheduled to start in 2030, the construction of the CRL Pasir Ris station will begin in the fourth quarter of 2021. As Singapore's eighth MRT line, CRL will connect major centers such as Jurong Lake and Punggol Digital District as well as the Changi area. Almost half of CRL stations will be used as interchange stations with other railway lines.
CRL1 is 29 kilometers long and consists of 12 stations, from Aviation Park to Bright Hill, serving residential and industrial areas.
A detailed study is currently being conducted for the subsequent stages of CRL. Earlier this month, the Land Transport Authority of Singapore awarded two civil contracts worth US$392.5 million (S$526 million) for the construction of four Jurong Regional Line (JRL) stations and related viaducts.
