The "Zhijiang" shield machine has a diameter of more than 15 meters, a length of 120 meters, and a weight of 4,300 tons. It will be used in the Zhijiang Road Water Conveyance Corridor and the road improvement project (Zipu Road to Fuxing Road) tunnel project. During the tunneling process of the equipment, it will pass through strata intervals such as moderately weathered argillaceous siltstone, silty silty clay, and moderately weathered quartz sandstone. The complex geology puts high requirements on the settlement control and geological adaptability of the equipment. China Railway Equipment and Tengda Construction carried out a targeted design to effectively solve the problems of cutterhead mud cake, abnormal tool wear, blockage and stagnation in the excavation of silt composite strata, providing a strong guarantee for the safe and efficient construction of the project.
The project used by the "Zhijiang" shield machine is located in the core section of Hangzhou along the north bank of the Qiantang River, close to the Shanhusha Reservoir and the Zhijiang Campus of Zhejiang University. It is the largest long-distance shield tunnel currently under construction in Hangzhou project. After the project is completed, it will replace the existing six-lane two-way on the ground with a two-way four-lane on the ground + four-lane underground, which will improve the traffic conditions in Hangzhou, create a three-dimensional traffic network and water grid along the river, and optimize the ecology and landscape along the river. The environment, to further improve the living conditions of citizens, and to protect people's livelihood is of great significance.
In recent years, China Railway Equipment has continued to make efforts in the field of super large-diameter shield manufacturing with its rich experience in shield R&D and manufacturing and strong strength. The 15.8-meter-diameter mud-water balance shield machine "Chunfeng" went to Pengcheng to challenge the super project. The 15.3-meter-diameter mud-water balance shield machine "China Railway No. 306" penetrated the country's largest cross-section subsea tunnel in Shantou, with a diameter of 15.08 meters in the hard rock TBM "China Railway 859". The ship went to Georgia to help the construction of the “Belt and Road”. At the beginning of 2021, the 15.53-meter-diameter “Mawan” once again assisted the construction of Shenzhen’s transportation. There are also a series of super-large-diameter shield machines waiting to be launched on the production line.
