According to reports, Smart Engineering Solutions plans to invest $1.2 billion in Egypt to establish a solar thermal power plant and produce components for the solar thermal system through cooperation with the Egyptian military. The company's chairman said that by the end of November 2019, through cooperation with international energy experts, the partners of the solar thermal project will be selected from a short list of up to 16 companies.

This project plans to build 5 solar thermal power plants with an installed capacity of 50MW each and a total installed capacity of 250MW. The estimated cost of each project is about 250 million US dollars, with a total investment of about 1.25 billion US dollars. It is reported that up to 70% of the cost of this project will come from international institutions, and 10-15% will come from local banks in Egypt.
