On May 23, 2021, China Railway Bangladesh Padma Bridge Railway Link Project Manager Department and CRRC Tangshan Locomotive and Rolling Stock Co., Ltd. formally signed the Bangladesh Padma Bridge Railway Link Project 100 vehicles in Dhaka, Bangladesh through video connection. Chinese elements go out

The Padma Bridge Railway Link Project in Bangladesh is a cooperation project under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative between the governments of China and Bangladesh. It is a key infrastructure construction project in Bangladesh and the largest currently under construction financed by the Export-Import Bank of China." The "Two Excellent" project, after the completion of the project, will connect the northeast and southwest of Bangladesh through the Padma Bridge, which will greatly improve the current traffic conditions in Bangladesh, promote regional connectivity and the development of the national economy.

The project was implemented by China Railway Group in EPC mode, and construction started on July 3, 2018. The signing of this contract is an important measure taken by China Railway to respond to the national policy of "relying on projects to promote the overall development of the industrial chain" and to drive the "Chinese elements" to go global.

The 100 wide-gauge passenger cars designed and manufactured by CRRC Tangshan for the Padma Bridge railway connection line are divided into 5 types, including 15 air-conditioned sleeper cars (WJC), 35 air-conditioned seat cars (WJCC), and 25 cars. Non-air-conditioned passenger cars (WEC), 15 non-air-conditioned dining cars with passenger compartments (WECDR), and 10 non-air-conditioned electric generator cars with passenger compartments (WEPC), with a gauge of 1676mm and a maximum operating speed of 120km/h. The passenger cars adopt the latest design Concept, environmental protection, comfort and safety. The batch of buses will be delivered to Bangladesh in the next two years.
