Polish technology company Nevomo announced that it will build Europe's longest passive magnetic levitation test track-also known as maglev. Magnetic levitation technology utilizes existing railway tracks and uses two sets of magnets: one set is used to repel the train and push it off the track, and the other set is used to move the elevated train forward. This allows trains to reach speeds of 550 kilometers per hour—competing with high-speed trains and even airplanes.

Nevomo will lease land and adjacent infrastructure from CIECH (including existing railways and offices) of the Nowa Sarzyna commune in Podkarpacie, Poland. The track will be used to test vehicles with linear drive systems and passive suspension systems, as well as power electronic systems used to provide power and control for multi-segment linear motors.

"Building a 1:1 scale test track on the site provided by CIECH Sarzyna is another milestone in the development of magnetic track (or maglev) technology," said Nevomo Pawel Radziszewski's board member and chief technology officer in a press release.

"The successful conduct of these tests has opened the way for the pilot implementation planned from 2022 to 2024. It is expected that by 2025, the magnetic track technology will be technically fully operational." Although the magnetic levitation technology uses a concept similar to the super high-speed rail- That is, the magnetic vacuum track system-magnetic levitation allows the integration of existing railway infrastructure, making it a significant advantage over the super high-speed rail that requires the construction of new dedicated tracks. The Polish circuit is jointly funded by the European Union in accordance with the Smart Development Plan, and construction will begin in the summer of 2021. Editor/Xu Shengpeng
