The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) stated that following the addition of advanced new units using seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) technology to the Jebel Ali Power Plant and Desalination Complex in its Jebel Ali Power Plant and Desalination Complex, Its desalinated water production capacity has increased to 490 million royal gallons per day (MIGD).

Said Mohamed Taye, MD and CEO of DEWA, pointed out that DEWA currently has 43 multi-stage flash (MSF) desalination plants, and the total capacity of stations D, E, G, K, L and M is 427 MIGD water. . It also has two SWRO plants with a capacity of 63MIGD. DEWA’s total desalinated water capacity in the Jebel Ali power plant and desalination complex is 490 MIGD.

"We follow the vision of wise leadership to develop world-class infrastructure to keep up with growing energy and water demand, and to serve more than 1 million customers in Dubai in accordance with the highest standards of availability, reliability, safety and efficiency. Provide quality services. DEWA and its subsidiaries have assets valued at more than 49.5 billion U.S. dollars and have invested up to 23.41 billion U.S. dollars in energy and water within five years to support this goal," Al Tayer said.

Desalination

He pointed out that DEWA's goal is to increase its SWRO capacity by 303 trillion Ged by 2030: 42% instead of the current 13%. By 2030, the production capacity of desalinated water will reach 730 MIGD. The SWRO desalination plant requires less energy than the Médecins Sans Frontières plant. One of DEWA's latest projects, Jebel Ali K station, has a production capacity of 40 MIGD using this technology.

DEWA Power Generation EVP Nasser Luta said that the utility company uses smart technology to allow effective desalination plant control and monitoring, thereby improving availability and reliability. DEWA first implemented a Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) system in the SWRO plant at the "K" station to treat water and remove any contaminants before the desalination process. The statement explained that this enables the desalination process to continue under all conditions, especially during red tides when total suspended solids and turbidity reach high levels.

In addition, the double-pass reverse osmosis system implemented in this project ensures the quality of drinking water. The SWRO plant is equipped with a high-efficiency recovery device with 96% efficiency, and uses the high pressure of the first brine/refusal flow to transfer part of the influent water to the first inlet. DEWA pointed out that this greatly reduces the power consumption of the high-pressure pump, thereby increasing the efficiency of the desalination process.

The utility company also stated that it ensures the quality of desalinated water through continuous monitoring of all stages of the desalination process, so that customers can obtain drinking water that meets the highest international quality and safety standards, including those produced by the World Health Organization (WHO) , Delivery and distribution of drinking water standards. Editor/XuNing、Design/WangXia
